Sunzi Kreative (Colleyville): A lot of people have fantasies about gathering some of their best friends and starting a business. These guys did it. St Clair, Brian and Tim have known each other since childhood. In fact, the three of them started making videos together as children and they have played in multiple bands together. St. Clair and Tim produced their first studio album at the age of 15 for their band, Permanent Frontier. Meanwhile a curious kid named Petar, the fourth member of the team, was living in a communist country on the other side of the planet and engaging in similar creative endeavors. Fast forward about 25 years. Brian went to work with St. Clair at Live Energy, an energy brokerage firm founded by St. Clair and another Fort Worth native, Paul Fershtand. In the process of growing Live Energy, St. Clair became increasingly dissatisfied with the software solutions available. He grew even more tired of experts who didnt understand business and were always pushing their favored solution regardless of how well it truly matched his needs. Technology and marketing was where he knew they could create a major competitive advantage in the old school energy market. Finally, St. Clair decided he should just build the software he needed with his own team and quit wasting time with janky software products that never worked as promised and stop taking advice from experts who had never run a business. Over the years they developed their own CRM, an energy management portal, and a number of other sales and marketing related tools. They developed an in house multimedia team to produce video and other creative content as needed. Then something unexpected happened: their innovative technology and creative solutions caught the attention of other companies. Their work was so solid, other business owners began to approach them asking if they could develop similar technology solutions for their businesses. In addition, these other business owners began to ask broader questions about web design, marketing, video and other forms of promotion such as PPC and SEO.
